It's zombie Christmas in Dead Rising 4

Dead Rising 4 is the fourth installment in Capcom's series of open-world zombie survival-horror games. This game sees the return of classic series protagonist Frank West, whose photographic skills and ability to make zombie-slicing weapons out of found objects will be tested to the limit as he battles the walking dead on the holiday-decorated streets of Willamette, Colorado, the town from the original game. As before, the game features open-world zombie-bashing action with a streak of dark humour.

It's time to get ridiculous

The hallmark of the Dead Rising series has always been the blend of open-world scavenging, frantic beat-'em-up combat and ever-crazier weapons, and Dead Rising 4 doesn't disappoint. You can zap zombies with electrified weapons, blow them to bits with fireworks, and even discover high-tech armour that gives Frank superhuman strength. Of course, you'll need all these zany armaments to fight your way through an open city full of bigger and more dangerous zombie hordes than ever before. Of course, Frank isn't only a zombie slayer -- he's also a photojournalist. Taking dramatic photos of the zombie hordes will help him advance through the game. Fans of the series may miss original voice actor Terence J. Rotolo.

Take to the streets

Dead Rising 4 is a return to the original game's ultra-violence, madcap inventions and grisly humour. If you liked the original -- or if you just like walloping zombies -- it's worth a look.
